The Russian River Valley's fog-cooled climate and well-drained soils are ideal for producing some of the finest chardonnays in the world, including our 2004 Tre Terre Chardonnay. This Chardonnay has a fruit-forward style and floral hues with bright acidity. A combination of new and older French oak barrels lends creamy quality with apricot and peach overtones.
Vintage Notes
The fruit for this wine came from our estate vineyards in the Russian River Valley appellation in Sonoma County, an area known producing some of the worlds best Chardonnays. Despite an unusually warm spring and one of the hottest summers in recent years, 2004 was one of the best growing seasons in recent memory, bringing a perfect balance and quality to the fruit. Harvest began early, 18 to 21 days ahead of 2003, and ended just one day before the fall rains began.
Winemakers Notes
Each lot for this wine was either whole cluster pressed or gently crushed, de-stemmed and pressed, then cold settled for two days in stainless steel tanks before moving to barrels. Aged separately in French oak, the winemaking team was able to select from various individual lots to create the final blend. The wines completed 50 percent malolactic fermentation and were sur lie aged and stirred every two weeks for ten months. The resulting wine has great complexity complimented by good acidity and a rich finish.

Pesto-Stuffed Chicken Breasts
The 2004 Tre Terre Chardonnay complements mildly spiced vegetarian and richer fish dishes. Because of Tre Terre's elegant complexity, it works exceptionally well with veal, poultry, pasta and risotto.
