This Chardonnay boasts ripe aromas of white peaches, apricots, vanilla cream, and figs interwoven with tropical fruit flavors followed by toasted hazelnut and spice on the finish. Layers of intense flavors and an elegant finish characterize this spectacular new wine from our Russian River Valley &#8220;Vineyard Select&#8221; series.<br /><br /><b><i>Vintage Notes</i></b><br /><br />A mild late spring and summer ensured that the mature vines had a healthy canopy for the grapes, which provided the perfect combination of sunlight and heat penetrating the grape clusters. These conditions allowed the grapes to reach full maturity in both flavor and structure. Harvest was completed mid-October.<br /><br /><b><i>Winemakers Notes</i></b><br /><br />Two Chardonnay clones comprise our 2005 Emelia&#8217;s Cuv&#233;e Chardonnay. Both of these clones were whole cluster pressed, then cold-settled for two days in stainless steel tanks, and moved directly to barrels for fermentation, utilizing various French oak cooperages.
